In a study reported in the Archives of Internal Medicine (that was not sponsored by Bartles & Jaymes or Anheuser-Busch) findings were published that women who “regularly consume moderate amounts of alcohol are less likely to gain weight” than their non-drinking peers, and were at a lower risk of obesity. The study followed nearly 20,000 women aged 39 or over, 60% of whom were light to “regular” drinkers and 40% classed as non-drinkers. At the start of the study, the women fell into the “normal” range of BMI.
