Although as a rabid Jay-Z fan who finds “Empire State of Mind” to be the hottest rap track in the past 12 months, I should love this social media parody, I have to admit I kind of dug the Foursquare version of “Swagga Like Us” (“Badges Like Us”) harder. However, the video below, namechecking sites like Mashable and Geekologie, does do a clever parody of what it calls “new dorks”- entrepreneurs who are attempting to take over the internet with an army of one (or a few) via YouTube, Twitter and blogs.

While many companies are pushing for free internet for everyone, a top Microsoft executive this week went in the other direction, suggesting that an internet usage tax should be charged in order to help fight cyber crime. According to HuffPost : Speaking at a security conference in San Francisco, Microsoft Vice President for Trustworthy Computing Scott Charney pitched the Web usage fee as one way to subsidize efforts to combat emerging cyber threats — a costly venture, he said, but one that had vast community benefits.

A mix of amusement and outrage amongst Florida A&M University students has erupted on Twitter this morning, due to a circulating sex tape rumored to have been filmed in FAMU dorms and apparently featuring an orgy. It’s clear that there is a single “sex tape” that is being referred to, although students at the school say the location in the video is certainly not a dorm at FAMU.
